The Nokia X makes up one third of the brand's new X family of Android-powered smartphones. Although they run Google's OS, Nokia has added on its own tile-based interface which looks remarkabley like the the Windows Phone 8 UI found on the likes of the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Nokia Lumia 1520.

The Nokia X+ has added memory and expandable storage while the Nokia XL is a larger handset with a 5-inch display.

Nokia X : Size and build

The design screams Nokia - with the familar choice of bright green, bright red, cyan, yellow, black and white fascias. We liked the palm-sized dimensions (115.5 x 63 x 10.4mm) while the the matt finish of the chassis feels pleasent and comfy to hold.

Nokia X: Features

Interesting, the phone's storage leads to Microsoft's cloud, rather than Google's and you won't have access to the Google Play store, instead you'll be guided towards Nokia's ring-fenced selection of content.

The phone is fairly light on features but we know it has a fairly pedestrian 3MP fixed focus camera on board.

Nokia X: Screen

The 4-inch screen looks relatively small compared to may of its comepetitors, but at least that keeps the size of the handset down. IPS means that viewing angles are pretty decent, although the 800 x 480-pixel  resolution is sloightly dull and uninspiring.

Nokia X: Performance

The Nokia X runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8225 dual core chipset, with a maximum of 1Ghz on the clock and 512MB of memory. The phone we saw lagged slightly when trying to connect to the app store, possibly due to the heavily used Wi-Fi connection at MWC.

Nokia X: Verdict

The Nokia X is a neat little phone with the brand's colourful design taking centre stage. The idea of a Windows-influenced Android skin that uses Microsoft's storage and Nokia's content store is a strange one, with  Nokia seemingly trying to distance itself from Google and Android has much as possible. Micromax A350 Canvas Knight full review and specifications

Following the octa-core brigade, Micromax has launched its next flagship dubbed the Canvas Knight A350, for the Indian market. Just like most Micromax devices, it is a budget device with superior features. For Rs 19,999, the spec sheet of the Canvas Knight could put any sub-Rs 20,000 device to shame. Here’s a quick look at its tech specs.

User Interface – Android 4.2.2
While the hardware appears to be brilliant, the Canvas Knight is disappointing when it comes to the OS running on the device.  The Canvas Knight runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, similar to its previous flagship Canvas Turbo. With the nifty specs the phone holds, it appears to be more than capable of running Android 4.4 KitKat. What we don’t understand is what’s stopping Micromax from launching it with 4.3 at the very least, if not KitKat?

One should also expect pre-loaded apps from the company such as M! Security, M! Live, M! Unlock as well as third party vendors like Spuul, Hike, Opera Mini and more. Micromax had also signed a deal with BlackBerry to preload BBM on its Canvas phones. So, you can expect BBM for Android too. One can also expect Micromax’s software gimmickry like ifloat that serves as a quick launcher for calls, messages, browser, settings, etc. from any screen, blow to unlock, popup video, popup browser, and more.  You will also find Truecaller, GetIt, M!Vault pre-installed along with games such as RealSteel WRB, Where’s My Perry and Where’s My Water.

Canvas Knight looks sleek, but too much like the iPhone

Cellular Connectivity – GSM, 3G
The Canvas Knight is a dual SIM smartphone that supports GSM and 3G networks. However, it should be noted that the company has started testing 4G-enabled devices, which are expected to be launched later this year. May be its too early to say, but we could possibly see a 4G variant of the device in the future.

Display – 5-inch SHARP Full HD
Micromax has retained the 5-inch display size seen in the Turbo as well as the full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, with a pixel count that goes all the way up to 443 ppi. Moreover, it’s the full HD CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) IPS display built by SHARP, just like its predecessor. This means, we can expect crisp and clear images.

Form-factor– Anodised aluminium body
The official site doesn’t mention the weight or dimensions, but it appears to be pretty slim. In terms of design, it doesn’t follow the Turbo, instead looks like an iPhone. The Canvas Knight gets a brushed metal styling with champagne gold bezels while the rear panel comes with a glass finish. The device is available in three colours – black, white and gold and black and gold.

Wi-Fi
The Canvas Turbo supports Wi-Fi, but so far there has been no mention of the connectivity options. There is no word on dual-band support either or if it supports the ‘ac’ draft either.

Processor – Mediatek Octa-core , 2GB RAM
The Canvas Knight is first smartphone from Micromax to feature an octa-core processor.  It is powered by a MediaTek MT6592T SoC, that clocks in at 2GHz. It also includes an ARM Mali-450 GPU and 2GB of RAM.  The Canvas Knight joins the Gionee Elife E7 Mini, Intex Aqua Octa and the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N2, which also sport octa-core chipsets.

Internal storage – 32GB, no room for expansion
While the Canvas Turbo was available with 16GB onboard storage option, the Knight gets a whopping 32GB built-in storage. It doesn’t offer other online storage support or a memory card slot.  However, 32GB storage could suffice your daily storage needs.

Camera - 16-megapxiel BSI sensor, 8-megapixel front-facing camera
On the camera front, the Knight comes with major improvement. It gets 16-megapxiel sensor on the rear side with support for auto-focus and flash. The rear shooter is paired with OmniVision’s CameraChip sensor and a new generation M8 Largan Lens, allowing 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. Users can also control the camera with their voice and the OmniVision CameraChip sensors also enable HD burst mode.

The device also gets an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The company has included its quirky-named “Camerazzi” camera app that adds several features such as 360 Degree Panorama, Cinemagraph and Object Eraser.

Sensors – All the usual suspects
The Canvas Knight won’t disappoint when it comes to sensors. It gets all the usual suspects such as accelerometer, light, gravity, gyroscope, proximity and compass.

GPS
The Canvas Knight comes with support for GPS and A-GPS. Though the official site doesn’t mention, we are hoping it also supports GLONASS.

Battery – Li-Ion 2350 mAh
Coming to the battery, we get a measly 2350 mAh battery. The rated battery life promised is 175 hours of standby time and 7.5 hours of talk time. Given the specifications of the phone, this could be the Achilles heel of the Knight.

The bottom line
The Canvas Knight comes with an incredibly powerful specs sheet. It appears to be one of the best value-for-money Android smartphones under Rs 20,000 with an octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera and 32GB onboard storage. The only disappointment so far, is the older Android Jelly version that the device runs on and the tiny battery.  While it all sounds good on paper and has the potential to be one of the best budget smartphone by an Indian brand, we will have to wait and see how well the device performs once we get out hands on it.

The company is targeting brands that presently hold monopoly in the smart phone market. The E7 specifically targets the quality of photographs and gives an “exceptional 3D gaming experience”.

Samsung has shared a new unPacked trailer which confirms that the company will unveil the next Galaxy flagship smartphone, which will almost definitely be called the Galaxy S5, at MWC 2014.The official unPacked trailer consists of a series of images which are accompanied by taglines in the middle. Notably, the official trailer seems to confirm some of the features that have been rumoured for the Samsung Galaxy S5 for some time now.
Some of the taglines on the images tipping the expected features include 'wet5', which we expect indicate about waterproof and dustproof features of the Galaxy S5. A recent report emerging from Korea claimed that the Galaxy S5 would be a dustproof and waterproof device. Also, a recent teaser of the Galaxy S5 on the German website of UK-headquartered mobile carrier, O2 showed a smartphone making a splash in the water.
Further, the taglines like 'dad5' and 'family5' suggest that the Galaxy S5 might include some new features like kid and family mode.

The trailer also shows 'speed5' tagline which could be hinting at the company's next-generation of Exynos chipsets. It's worth mentioning that the South Korean major teased its Exynos Infinity chipsets, which could be company's first 64-bit mobile chip.
Other taglines like 'focus5' and 'moment5', hint about an improved camera sensor on the Galaxy S5, and 'create5', we assume point to the presence of a stylus in the yet-to-be-launched device. It's worth pointing out that the 'selfie5' tagline seems like Samsung might include an improved front-facing camera on the front.
The unPacked trailer has been posted by official global channel of Samsung Mobile on YouTube and is a 36-second video.
Unfortunately, the official trailer does not include any taglines about the fingerprint scanner that is widely expected on the Galaxy S5.
For those unaware, Samsung has already sent media invites for its "unPacked 5" event, where the company will be unveiling the next Galaxy flagship smartphone at the sidelines of MWC 2014 on February 24 in Barcelona.

We expect, based on previous reports, that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be launched alongside a new tablet series, believed to be dubbed Galaxy Tab 4, and the long-rumoured Galaxy Gear successor, named Galaxy Gear 2 at the 24 February 2014 event in Barcelona, at the sidelines of the MWC 2014.

Sony is preparing a new mid-range smartphone for 2014 known as Xperia G featuring 4.8-inches of display size, 8 MP rear camera, 1 GB RAM, microSD card slot and similar designs with Xperia Z1. So what makes Xperia G any better than Xperia SP or Xperia V?

Screen Size And Display Resolution

If compared with Xperia SP and V, Xperia G has more to offer with its display size and resolution. Screen size reaches up to 4.8-inches, including soft keys that are larger compared to Xperia SP's 4.6-inches or 4.3-inches on Xperia V. For display resolution, all three feature 720p viewing resolution but Xperia G has larger screen that makes everything appear bigger. Don't forget that Sony Mobile will include Bravia for mobile engine but we are not yet sure if its version 1 or version 2.

Operating System

Unlike Xperia SP and V, Sony Mobile may install Android 4.2.2/4.3 Jelly Bean on Xperia G if not Android 4.4 KitKat right away. It means Xperia G will have instant entry on Sony's upcoming Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware update for the year and even future updates, including the newest Android version, we can expect to see by October 2014. Also, Xperia SP and V are under investigation with Android 4.4 KitKat update. Both are also nearing end of life cycle making Xperia G a better replacement.

Sony Software

If Sony uses Android 4.2/4.3 Jelly Bean, Xperia G will have the same home launcher and UI found in Xperia SP and V. Also, smart social camera apps with Timeshift Burst, AR effect, Motion Shot and Motiongraph will be included in the device. All updated version of Sony exclusive media apps are expected to become part of Xperia G multimedia features with ClearPhase, xLoud and ClearAudio engines.

Xperia Z1 Design

According to XperiaBlog, Xperia G features same design principles with Xperia Z1 but the chassis is slightly smaller relative to the overall size. You may also see signature keys such as dedicated camera button like in Xperia SP and Sony's very own power hard key.

In addition to the Slate 6 VoiceTab, HP also launched the bigger Slate 7 VoiceTab. As the name suggests, it is a 7-inch tablet that can also make voice calls over cellular network with a price tag of Rs 16,990. The tablet will be available from next week onwards.
Talking of specifications, the tablet flaunts a 7-inch (1280×800 pixels) display with a pixel density of 216ppi and in terms of power; it has a 1.2GHz Marvell PXA1088 quad-core processor  inside paired with 1GB of RAM. On the photography front, the Slate 7 VoiceTab features the same combination of 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel secondary camera at the front as the Slate 6 VoiceTab.
Other features include 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card and a 4,100mAh battery. Connectivity options too are quite similar to the Slate 6 VoiceTab with dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and as far as the OS is concerned, it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
At this price point, the Slate 7 VoiceTab will be up against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, which is priced at Rs 16,832. Though priced close to each other, the Galaxy Tab 3 lags behind with a dual-core processor, a 7-inch display but at a lower resolution, lower resolution cameras (3-megapixel/1.3-megapixel), single-SIM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Another device it would compete with is the Lenovo Idea Tab A3000, which is cheaper with a price tag of Rs 13,899. Compared to HP’s tablet, the Idea Tab has similar specs, but lags behind in terms of a lower resolution display and camera at the front.

low budget mobiles from htc

HTC is one of the few companies that has always dealt in smartphones. Even during the time when the feature phones were prime, HTC was a company that created high-end Windows phone. That was also the time when barely anyone in India knew about HTC. With the coming of iOS and Android the whole platform changed and smartphones become a norm. HTC rose on the wave of Android.
However, for the past few years, HTC has lost their way.
Earlier, they launched too many similar phones, which ended up confusing the consumer, and then they cut back on the models and focused on the high end segment only. This might have worked great if their HTC One would have succeeded as much as they wanted.
Unfortunate for them though, Samsung and Apple have made the battle pretty much between the two themselves. All the other companies are playing second fiddle in the high end. Even Nexus 5 is not equivalent to Galaxy S4 and Note 3.
From personal experience, I can say that the only HTC phones I see among my peers are those bought two years back. iPhone, Nexus (4,5), Galaxy (S3, S4) and Note (2,3) are the king in the market.

Most companies however have middle segment where there is most populace and fiercer competition. Here, with right pricing and specs, any phone can create an impact. The biggest example of this would be the recently launched Moto G, which created such a frenzy, that it was sold off in minutes from Flipkart from the time of launch. HTC did not create that net for themselves and are realizing the folly.
As the company chairperson Cher Wang told Reuters- “The problem with us last year was we only concentrated on our flagship. We missed a huge chunk of the mid-tier market.”
The company has faced very disappointing last two years. Where once the company was selling 1 in every 10 smartphones, it is down to 2 in 100.

The profits have plummeted as well as the share price for the Taiwanese company. HTC intends to correct this by launching a few phones in $150 to $300 range that should compete with phones like Moto G and Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. Another competition that HTC will face in this range will be the local companies- Micromax, XOLO, Karbonn etc. in India and likes of Xiaomi in China.
The company is very clear however that they would not go too cheap (below Rs. 10,000 I suppose). The problem with HTC is that it has lost faith of the shareholders (the shares are 80% below what they were two years back). This means that HTC needs action and fast.
Another year like this and it might just be too late for HTC and they may not be able to reverse the damage done.

Last week when we were at the Google India office we got a idea to do something different, and we went ahead with something totally expected which was the Drop Test of few of the Best Smart Phones considered by consumers. We have had initially expected that all these three phones would just shatter into pieces because that is what generally expected by most of the users. These phones feature large touch screens which generally can break even when dropped from your hands normally and we went ahead doing a small test in the form of a step by step procedure.
We started off with back side drop of the phones at waist height which is the normal height from where your phones can generally slip from your hands and then followed by shoulder height which is the place where your phone can slip when you are holding it followed by finally the side drop which can generally happen when you are capturing a photo or a video. These are some real life situations with the location being a real life scenario giving you an actual idea on what could happen with your costly phones.

Best smart phone with low budget nokia asha 501

A nice little phone that looks fresh both on the inside and outside. That's what we took from our first encounter with the Nokia Asha 501 and we do hope we managed to get that point across. You know, with phones that go a dime a dozen, you always risk making it sound like a condescending pat on the head.
The Asha 501 is better than that. Yes, it's an entry-level package. A cheap, dual-SIM phone that fits the Asha description to a T. Yet, it's a fresh take on the touchscreen dumbphone concept - in terms of both industrial design and software.

It seems Nokia is no longer looking at the Asha lineup as a back-office operation or a way to hedge its bet on Windows Phone with minimum investment. After years of living on the Symbian leftovers, the Ashas are finally getting the respect and treatment they deserve. They have been consistent earners in developing markets but the Asha 501 is, for the first time, likely to make the lineup relevant on a larger scale.
Of course, bargain-hunters and first-time buyers continue to be the main target, but a winning combination at last of a fresh, contemporary design and neat and clever interface will certainly raise the Asha 501's prospects.
Nostalgic Nokia N9 users buying it for their kid, or people after a sensible - and perfectly capable - backup phone. Why not the kind of users too who value looks over features, or any other group of non-geeks. Though it might help if they're just geeky enough to get the joke in "My other phone is a Lumia 1020".

The thing about Ashas is that they'd been trying too hard to offer a near-smartphone experience on the cheap. They always got near but not quite there, and the build and finish were the usual casualty of a tight budget.

Step #1:

Click on the check box Mobile Data option. This will tracking be applied to settings when you are using mobile network packet. While using connected to Wi-Fi it won’t affect anything.

Click on check box Set mobile data limit to use this functionality. This will give you one more line name as “limit” line shown in red in above image.

Step #3:

Drag the red line according to limit. If suppose your free internet network packet limit is 10 GB, then drag the line above up-to 10 GB and leave it. This will terminate the network packet usage after 10 GB which may not incur you any additional charges.

Step #4:

Drag the Yellow line up-to the limit where you want to get a warning notification about the limited network data packet you used. If suppose I place my yellow warning line at 5.1 GB, that means I will get an warning message at 5.1 GB usage. This will help you to keep a track on the data packet usage.

Step #5:

You can also see the which application is causing you more network data usage. And you can limit on each application to use data. Just click on the Application you want to limit the internet connection and at the bottom there is option “Restrict  background data“. This will stop using the mobile data when the application is not in use.
